Margarita Week for National Margarita Day on February 22nd
Here's a round up of the WEEK of Margaritas you may have missed
When February 22nd rolls around, there’s only one thing on our minds—National Margarita Day which just so happens to fall on my BIRTHDAY! But truly, this day is dedicated to one of the most beloved cocktails of all time, this is the perfect excuse to raise a glass, experiment with flavors, and appreciate the simplicity of a well-crafted margarita.

The main ingredient, tequila
What to look for when buying tequila:
Always look for 100% agave on the bottle.
Make sure it says “Product of Mexico” or “Hecho en Mexico.” If it’s not made in Mexico, then it’s not real tequila.
Look for CRT or Consejo Regulador del Tequila, this is the regulatory agency ensuring all tequila companies are following all the rules.
Look for the NOM which is the Normas Official Mexicana number for the distillery code.
Now, let’s start shaking… but first, queue the music!

Day 1: SPICY PICKLE MARGARITA
Here’s how to make this at home:
To a shaker add
1.5 oz pickle brine, I used a sweet and spicy pickle chips brine
1.5 oz tequila blanco
2 jalapeño slices
3/4 oz Cointreau
3/4 oz lime juice
1/4 oz agave syrup
Muddle, add ice and shake!
Strain over ice rimmed with a spicy salt!
Day 2: GREEN JUICE MARGARITA
To a blender add, I used my Beast Health Blender
1 celery stalk
1/2 cucumber
1 lime, remove skin
Handful of cilantro & mint
6 pieces chopped pineapple
Splash of agave syrup & a pinch of salt!
Blend until smooth & strain!
To a cocktail shaker add:
1.5 oz tequila blanco
2 oz green juice mix
3/4 oz Cointreau
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 oz agave syrup
Add ice and shake!
Double strain into a glass with ice and a salt rim
Day 3: PRICKLY PEAR PINEAPPLE MEZCAL MARGARITA
Here’s how to make it at home:
1.5 oz Mezcal
1.5 oz prickly pear water, found at @sprouts
1 oz pineapple juice
3/4 oz lime juice
3/4 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz agave syrup, or hot honey
Add to a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
Double strain & enjoy!
Day 4: STRAWBERRY & BASIL APEROL MARGARITA
To a shaker muddle:
1-2 strawberries
4-5 basil leaves
1 oz Aperol
1/2 oz agave syrup
Once muddled, add in:
3/4 oz Cointreau
3/4 oz lime juice
1.5 oz tequila blanco
Add ice and shake!
Double strain and garnish
Day 5: PINEAPPLE COCONUT MARGARITA PITCHER
To a pitcher add:
1 cup pineapple juice
3/4 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup agave syrup
3/4 cup lime juice
3/4 cup orange liqueur, orange curaçao works great here
1.5 cups tequila or mezcal
Mix together, add ice and pour into your glasses!
I’ve found the best coconut milk that doesn’t curdle is RealCoco organic coconut milk!!
Day 6: PASSION FRUIT TEQUILA-RITA SOUR
Here’s how to make it at home:
1 egg white, or 1 tbsp aquafaba
1/2 oz passion fruit liqueur (use Passoa for color OR Chinola for flavor)
3/4 oz passion fruit juice
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 oz agave syrup
1/2 oz orange liqueur, orange curaçao works great
1.5 oz tequila or mezcal
Optional, splash of grapefruit (I think it adds a nice bright flavor to sours)
Dry shake, without ice!!
Add ice and shake again
Double strain into a coupe glass or these @viskicraft Negroni glasses
Garnish with half a passion fruit
Day 7: PRETTY SIMPLE… MARGARITA
