The frozen cocktail meets soft serve moment your summer NEEDED
There’s something about a frozen margarita that immediately takes a hot day up a notch… but turning one into a thick, creamy soft serve situation? That’s where things get dangerous.
I’ve officially entered my Ninja Creami era. You get that thick, scoopable, almost resort-style texture without needing loads of ice, and it’s the easiest way to make frozen cocktails feel elevated at home.
This Mango Margarita Swirl tastes like a cross between a spicy mango marg, mango sorbet, and a Dole Whip. Bright lime, creamy coconut, frozen mango, tequila, and just enough orange liqueur to make it actually taste like a margarita instead of just “mango ice cream.”
The best part? Once you understand the base formula, you can swap almost any frozen fruit into it.
Think:
Strawberry Margarita Soft Serve
Pineapple Coconut Margarita
Watermelon Tajín Margarita
Peach Jalapeño Margarita
Frozen Blackberry Mezcal Swirl
Piña Colada-inspired versions
Even spicy chamoy mango versions
The possibilities are honestly endless.

A Quick Note About Alcohol + The Ninja Creami
Alcohol lowers the freezing point, which means if you add too much tequila, your base may not freeze solid enough for the machine to process properly. A bit of a bummer for us if I’m being honest because you don’t get that TRUE cocktail amount… however… the workaround? Add a floater!
This recipe keeps the alcohol balanced:
enough tequila flavor to taste like a cocktail
but not so much that it turns into slush
If your mixture freezes softer than expected, don’t panic. That’s normal with alcohol-based Creami recipes.
The texture sweet spot usually comes from balancing:
fat (coconut milk)
sugar (agave)
fruit
alcohol
Which is also why full-fat coconut milk works so well here. It gives the recipe body and creaminess without needing heavy cream.
The Sweet Spot for Alcohol
For a standard Ninja Creami pint, the ideal range is usually:
2–3 oz total alcohol per pint
That’s enough to:
Actually taste the tequila
Keep the texture creamy
Letting the machine process correctly
Once you start getting closer to:
4–5 oz alcohol total
…the base becomes much softer and less stable, especially if the recipe is lower in sugar or fat.

basil
jalapeño
Pineapple Coconut Margarita
Swap:
frozen pineapple
Add:
extra coconut milk
toasted coconut
dark rum float
Watermelon Margarita
Swap:
frozen watermelon cubes
Note:
Watermelon contains more water, so reduce the lime juice slightly for a thicker texture.
Peach Margarita
Swap:
frozen peaches
Add:
tajín
cinnamon
jalapeño
A Few Creami Tips I’ve Learned
Always freeze the pint completely flat.
Frozen cocktail bases tend to freeze more softly than ice cream.
Coconut milk creates a creamier texture than almond milk.
And yes, you NEED to wait the full 24 hours…
Honestly, this may become my official drink of summer.
